Smart Comparison for Informed Purchases
Supercomparador is a project that originated as an idea during my university years, with the goal of empowering consumers by enabling them to compare product prices across different supermarkets. The core idea was to provide a tool that allows users to perform a detailed price comparison for the same shopping basket (or baskets with similar products), helping them identify savings and make more informed purchasing decisions..
Evolution of the Project
What began as an academic idea quickly gained relevance. Together with my professor, we assessed the project’s potential in an investment round, exploring various avenues for commercial exploitation. This effort bore fruit in the summer of 2024, when I was recognized as the winner of an entrepreneurship competition, securing financial support that allowed me to enhance the idea and expand its reach.
With this support, the project took a qualitative leap, incorporating the collaboration of industry professionals, both in marketing and supermarket relations, to optimize its impact and efficiently reach a broader audience.
Current Features
Today, Supercomparador is in an active expansion and development phase. Currently, it offers price comparisons across three national supermarkets, allowing users not only to compare prices but also to access detailed information on:
- Nutritional values of products.
- Suitability for specific diets: vegetarian, vegan, etc.
- Presence of controversial ingredients, such as palm oil.
These features enable users to make more informed purchases, not only based on price but also on the characteristics and quality of the products.
Expansion into the Business Sector
Supercomparador has expanded its reach beyond individual consumers, venturing into the business sector. Now, companies can use the platform to:
- Analyze their products and those of competitors.
- Monitor price changes in real time.
- Adjust competitive strategies based on up-to-date data.
This new branch of the project is designed to help businesses stay competitive in a dynamic and ever-changing market.
Technological Stack
The project is developed in Java using the Spring framework, with various libraries and tools for the Front-End. Currently, it relies on a relational database and is in the process of migrating to a corporate Cloud platform to enhance its scalability and performance.
